New Year’s Eve Reflections: Choosing Faith Over Resolutions

New Year’s Eve has always held a special kind of magic—a sense of possibility and renewal. In my youth, it felt like a blank slate, a chance to reset and become the version of myself I’d always envisioned. I loved crafting lists of resolutions, creating vision boards, and celebrating with friends as the clock struck midnight. But in the week that followed, reality often set in, and I’d find myself falling short of those lofty goals.

This year, my approach feels different. Change, growth, and setting visions are no longer confined to a single night or the start of the year. They are part of a daily practice—a journey, not an endpoint.

Each behaviour and choice shapes our path, and every day offers the chance to begin anew.

For 2025, my heart longs for one simple yet profound intention: to place God at the centre of my day—not just in routine morning prayers but as an active, constant awareness. In a world filled with distractions,

I strive to remind myself that He is the author of it all. It’s not a romantic notion or a fleeting resolution but a commitment to surrender and faith, knowing that true change comes from aligning with His will.

If you find yourself without resolutions this New Year or feel a twinge of disappointment in where you are, take heart.

Life’s road is ever-changing, and sometimes the most unexpected paths lead us to growth and blessings beyond our imagination.

Reflecting on the past year, I am profoundly thankful. It was a year that tested me, breaking ties with a much-loved community and revealing that faith doesn’t come from being surrounded by the “love of things.” It comes from a genuine relationship with God. I’ve seen the beauty of true friendships, grown in my role as a wife and mother, and found healing from childhood trauma and adversity through study and self-discovery.

This healing has deepened my relationship with Christ, transforming my faith from something abstract to something real and life-changing.

Each day is an opportunity to make a difference—not only in our own lives but in the lives of those around us. Whether it’s breaking patterns, letting go of limiting beliefs, or simply being present, these small, daily choices add up to create a life of purpose and meaning.

As we step into this new year, I encourage you to take a leap of faith. Trust that the road ahead, with all its twists and turns, is leading you somewhere greater. Embrace the process of growth, hold onto hope, and keep your heart open to the unexpected.

Happy New Year’s Eve! May 2025 be a year of courage, faith, and transformation.
