Mitochondria & Christ: The Power of life within us.
Mitochondria & Christ: The Power of Life Within Us
Since diving deeper into subconscious work and somatic practices, I’ve begun to see God’s presence more clearly in my life.
Scripture, once stored in my memory without full understanding, has come alive in application. It’s as if every word has been awakened, showing me the intricate connections between life and faith.
Today was another example of this revelation.
I was so excited to hear that doTERRA is finally releasing METAPWR MITOMAX in Australia a supplement designed to support mitochondria, the powerhouse of our cells. As I listened to a European interview explaining how mitochondria are passed down solely from the mother and that every human shares the same mitochondrial function, I was struck by how this mirrors the example of Christ.
Just as we inherit our mitochondria from our mothers, Christ was born also from a woman, yet He was conceived by the Holy Spirit. This profound truth highlights the Jesus was born with purpose, even within the womb. He was fully human through His birth from Mary, yet made also by the Spirit. In the same way, when we choose to have Christ within us, we become a new creation, born again, not of the flesh, but of the Spirit.
“A person’s body is born from his human parents. But a person’s spiritual life is born from the Spirit.” John 3:6 ICB
The Source of Life and Power
Mitochondria take what we consume, food and oxygen and transform it into energy. Without them, life ceases.
Jesus takes our brokenness and transforms us, giving us new life. Without Him, we are spiritually dead
Mitochondria produce ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate), the energy our cells need, except for blood cells. This made me reflect:
Just as our bodies require ATP to function, our spirits require a source of divine energy to thrive.
Fueling the Body vs. Fueling the Spirit
Mitochondria’s Fuel: Physical Energy
Mitochondria use oxygen and nutrients (glucose, fats, amino acids) to create ATP, the energy our body depends on, without the right fuel, mitochondria weaken, leading to fatigue, disease, and dysfunction.
Our Spirit’s Fuel: Spiritual Energy
Just as mitochondria require proper nutrients, our spirits need spiritual fuel.
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” ROM 8 :11 ESV
The Bridge: External Becomes Internal
Mitochondria take external elements, food, air and convert them into internal energy. Likewise, our spiritual life transforms through external sources
God’s Word, when taken in, transforms us from the inside out.The Holy Spirit takes our prayers, worship, and time in God’s presence and converts them into strength and renewal.
Just as a poor diet leads to weak mitochondria and disease,
Consuming spiritual junk fear, distraction, lies leaves us spiritually weak and disconnected from God. But when we fuel ourselves with truth, wisdom, and the presence of Jesus, we walk in divine strength. (Isaiah 40:31).
God’s Design: Interconnected and Purposeful
God created everything with a purpose, and we were never meant to exist independently of His creation. Scripture doesn’t just recall Jesus’ story, it reveals multi-dimensional layers of truth, showing us that everything in creation echoes spiritual principles.
A.T.P. – Our Spiritual Energy Source
Just as ATP fuels every cell, we need spiritual ATP to fuel our faith and walk with God. Without ATP, our bodies fail. Without spiritual ATP, we become weak in our faith.
A.T.P. – A Spiritual Acronym
A – Abiding in Christ
Jesus is our true energy source. When we abide in Him, we are spiritually sustained, just as our cells need ATP to function.
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” John 15:4 ESV
T – Transformation through the Holy Spirit
Just as mitochondria convert fuel into energy, the Holy Spirit transforms our hearts and minds, equipping us to live out God’s purpose.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Rom 12:2 ESV
P – Power through Prayer & the Word
Prayer and Scripture are our fuel. Without them, we spiritually burn out, just as a body without ATP weakens.
“It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”” Matt 4:4 ESV
Mitochondria require proper fuel nutrition, oxygen, and movement. In the same way, our spirits require the right fuel God’s Word, prayer, and the Holy Spirit.
Let’s make sure we are fueling our spiritual ATP daily so we can walk in strength, purpose, and divine power!
I love when we can see science explained and understood with a spiritual lens. It draws me closer to Him and helps me understand how wonderfully and fearfully made we are. The more I learn, the more I stand in awe of Him, how every intricate process within our bodies mirrors a deeper spiritual truth. These revelations invite us to explore, seek, and uncover the divine fingerprints woven into creation. They remind us that faith and science are not opposing forces, but rather, together, they unveil the boundless wisdom of our Creator. What other hidden parallels might we discover when we continue to seek Him in all things.
